About Weblate
Weblate is an open source localization platform that connects a software project's Git repository to translators. New strings are pulled from the repository, and translations are committed back. It includes translation memory, glossaries, screenshots and source context, customizable quality checks, and optional machine translation or LLM suggestions that users can accept or reject.
Its customers are software projects and organizations, including community projects. The product is copyleft libre software that can be self-hosted, and the company sells Hosted Weblate subscriptions priced by hosted string volume, dedicated instances, and optional paid support for self-hosted installations. A free tier is offered for libre projects.
Weblate was announced in April 2012 by Michal Čihař, who leads development. The website lists Weblate s.r.o. with an address in Cvikov, Czechia, and describes a small team with remote work. Hosted Weblate stores customer data and backups in the EU.
Product: Open source continuous localization platform with Git integration, translation memory, quality checks and optional AI translation, available as Hosted Weblate or self-hosted.
